FINISHED PROJECT

PRE-PAINTING

Getting Things Ship Shape

While we often get projects that require a whole facelift – waterproofing, patching, new color combinations, new or restored details – we also get a ton of projects where the owners have their ideal home, they just need it freshened up a bit. In these situations, we don’t just slap on a fresh coat of paint, first we need to make sure the bones of the building are sound and the membrane is intact. Then we can spruce things up with some quality paint that matches your existing colors (but please note: the new paint will look darker or brighter than how it looks pre-painting, as you probably had at least 5-10-years of sun and weather damage to soften the original color).

This craftsman is a classic example of this scenario. Once finished, its curved front window and complementary roof really stand out.

A Full Inspection to Ensure the Paint Job Lasts

In these instances, it’s about a thorough examination of the building to find any:

  • Current leaks or possible points of entry.
  • Existing dry rot.
  • General damage to trim and window sills.
  • Sun discoloration.
  • Chipping and bubbles.
  • Any needed sheet metal replacement such as Zbar window flashing.
